My name is Justine McGrath and I have loved reading for as long as I can remember. I set up this blog so I could connect with other readers (and writers!) and give and receive book recommendations. If you love to read, but more importantly you love to discuss what you are reading/have read, then you are definitely in the right place. I have now written many book reviews, both for this site and other sites. If you are in need of a book reviewer, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
What do I like to read? Well, a wide variety of genres from historical fiction to romance. Not such a huge fan of sci-fi, but I could be persuaded to read it, if it had a good enough story.
I don’t tend to favour one particular author, as I read so many different books, but I do love Barbara Kingsolver – The Poisonwood Bible is one of my favourite books of all time. I also love a lot of Irish writers such as Sebastian Barry, Colm Toibin and Edna O’Brien. My guilty pleasure is Jilly Cooper!
After reading a book or seeing a film, the next best thing is discussing it. As Oscar Wilde said, ‘The one exists and is never talked about: it is called the real world because there is no need to talk about it in order to see it. The other is the world of art: one must talk about it because otherwise it would not exist.’
So let’s talk books. Reviews, opinions, recommendations. At the Book Club Cafe there will be weekly discussions on what books have inspired you, what books you love to re-read, your favourite authors and much much more! So grab yourself a cuppa and come and shoot the breeze about anything reading or writing related. I look forward to hearing from you.
Tanya, welcome! I have to confess to being somewhat confused. Do you mean by Paula Hawkins?? Haven’t heard of this title by Victoria Hislop. Please clarify! The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins is our August Book club of the month, so I think you must mean that one….you just got the wrong author. Happens to the best of us! I haven’t read any Victoria Hislop though, so if she is any good, let me know!!
